" I'm not just a patient under a scalpel, an image on a CT scan, an appointment in a book, and while you can tell me what I am, you will never tell me who I am" (Puglet)
Sometimes surgery expenses, or other costs such as traveling to see Chiari experts can get expensive. You may find you need to raise funds to get the care you need. Here are some ideas given to us along the way:
- Fundraising Party invite family and friends to a games night with raffles, and door prizes. Collect donated items to either auction off or have raffle drawings. (I found that once I started mentioning the events people offered items without even being asked) Have a 50/50 raffle where half of the money collected goes to your desired need, while the other half is given to the person who wins the drawing.
- Allow for out-right donations. I had an issue with this, but found that people wanted to give. It is easy to set up a paypal account so out-of-state donations can be made easily and securely online.
- Hold an event Game of golf or such where players pay to participate. A walk where participants raise funds to help your cause.
- Ask vendors to help by holding a party in your home, and donating profits towards expenses. (such as Mary Kay)
